Recycling

December 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

In my block, we recycle. To some people it means you throw your garbage in bags and throw them out on the balcony. To others it means that you put your garbage in bags and carry them to the recycling containers and leave them there. Hopefully someone else will do the tricky thing with putting your garbage in the right container. To me recycling is a fun project. I have boxes in my kitchen. I sort my garbage carefully. I could probably use the space for something better, but I like this planet and thought I may try to help saving it a little.  The balcony typ of recycling isn’t an option. I plan to use it in just a few months when global warming turns my balcony into a sauna. Anyway…

I’ve been thinking of recycling a lot. We recycle our ex boyfriends. We throw them away and let someone else transform them into something else (better or worse, I don’t know) or just let them out on the second hand market. There are a lot of funny stuff to be found on the second hand market. I’m there. I’m in the recycling system, waiting to be used again. Used in a good sense, of course. Do I need to say that I’m in a bad mood today?

The good thing is that I’ve finally managed to unpack, sort out and throw away enough stuff so my cupboards look nice and proper. And I kinda reach them now. Maybe it’s time to start hanging those pictures on the wall. I’ve found them now… I just wish I could find those keys to my suitcase too.

Time to update?

November 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment

What do you say? It’s time to update this place, huh? Truth is, I haven’t done much about my home. I’ve been exploring the new areas around it – where to throw away garbage, wash my clothes, buy food, go for a walk and play with my daughter. I haven’t found peace enough to type my impressions down. They’ve been too many!

Walking home in the rain last week, I found something that made me smile. You all know how much I like the shape of hearts, so you can imagine how much I like this:

The Empty Room

October 30, 2008 · 4 Comments

This is Clifford’s Castle. Like all castles, Clifford’s Castle has a Dungeon. It’s a new part to discover for you who don’t know Clifford very well. The best thing about it is that you can’t see it. The worst part is that Clifford disappears into it sometimes. The Dungeon is a pretty dark place, but luckily Clifford’s not afraid of the dark. She knows her way around. She’s been in there for a few times and so far, she’s always come out in one piece. That’s worth a yey… Anyway… If you wonder where Clifford’s gone to, she’s off to the Dungeon for a few days. Maybe she’s lighting candles in there and try to paint the walls in bright pink? I don’t know, really. But she’s down there for a while. She’ll be back. Hopefully after the weekend or so.

Birds

In the summer of 2000, my mom and I went to a flea market. There are loads of rubbish in flea markets, but sometimes you could strike gold. It’s been eight years since I bought these guys - peacocks by Ulla S. It’s time for them to finally have a place above my bed.

Candles

October 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

My lovely little girl falls asleep after five stories and endless counting of her fingers. I light the candles. I fill my home with them. Five in the window of the white room. Red light. Three on the top shelves. Red light. Two on my desk. Six in the green room. Green light. Inhale peace! This is what it’s all about. Love. Peace. Relief. Her blonde her in a casquade over the pillow, the teddy rat in her hand. My darling daughter and love of my life… This is home.

Before – After

October 22, 2008 · 5 Comments

Off work. It took me a while to get started on today’s project: the books. I forgot to count the boxes, but they were lots and lots and they were in a big pile. There are a picture of the mess in yesterday’s entry. Anyway. I decided to go for it. I got halfway. Then I fell asleep in that very comfy bed of mine. I guess I needed it. I haven’t slept ok for a couple of days. I have a lot on my mind, the rats build their castle out of newspapers they rip apart all night and I constantly wake up to check my phone… Don’t ask…

Before I fell asleep (for two hours!) it looked like this:

Now, when I’m done and I’ve had dinner, it looks like this:

I couldn’t find all the things for the shelves, so there are three shelves missing, but this looks much better than a bunch of boxes, if you ask me. I also put the door between the living room and the rats’ room back in, because I really hate being awake to the sound of them ripping paper. It drives me insane! Last night I had to get up and pile a lot of heavy boxes in front of the doorway, just to silence the sound for a bit. I was desperate and I told the rats to shut up. They just understand love, so they continued ripping as if nothing had happened at all. Gah!

Welcome home

October 20, 2008 · 1 Comment

Yes, there are books in the boxes and the actual shelves are behind the boxes, I know. But the rats’ cage is done (even if we were all so tired we made a mistake which forced us to take the cage down and rebuild it again – which made us even more tired but also gave us another opportunity to laugh). This room is the whitepinkish office/library/rat room/play room/ and I still haven’t done anything about it. Books can wait. Rats, children and myself can’t.

There it is. My bed. It hasn’t looked this good ever. When you are exhausted it even looks sexy - I promise! It must be the lights that does it. Or the Sandman. What do I know? IYou may also enjoy a picture of the first Clifford made meal at this new address. Mushroom risotto with cheese and spicy sausages. More pictures will come. More text too. I’m just getting used to the fact that I am… very single and this place is marvellous! It won’t come as a surprise to you: yey!

Online

October 18, 2008 · 3 Comments

Yep! I’m online again – which means I am at my new address. Yey! I could say it a thousand times! I am home and I love it! And my bed… You should see it! It’s dark red, just like the curtains! Yey! I can’t show you pictures because I don’t know where the cables are and I am too tired to do any form of activity besides this. Spitting out the last couple of words I still know how to spell.

Good thing: Old pet rat Taurus made it to the new address. When he dies, he’ll do it in freedom.

Good thing: I love life!

Good thing: When I wake up tomorrow morning, I’ll see green walls for the first time since Oct 8th 2005 and I know I will be the happiest girl on the entire Planet Earth.
